Dear MPYC Member,

Already it’s time to prepare for another great year of yacht racing. As with years past, we are fortunate to have such a dedicated Commodore, Board and Race Chair to insure that our club will continue to be active in the Monterey Bay. Last year proved to be an exciting, competitive year of racing and we are once again looking forward to another fine year of yachting. Please join us.

If you are planning on racing this year, even casually, you will need to fill out the enclosed documents: Entry form, Liability Waiver and Race Committee Duty Commitment. Additionally, if you are a PHRF racer you will need to have a PHRF Monterey Bay Certificate on file with MPYC. If you did not receive a Monterey Bay Performance Handicap Racing Fleet 2010 PHRF Renewal form from SCYC, or if your boat is new to racing in the Monterey Bay, please contact SCYC or our PHRF rep, for information on getting a PHRF certificate for your boat.

This year there will be two PHRF Fleets, A and B. This should provide each fleet with enough boats for fun and competitive sailing throughout the season. The use of Time on Time scoring insured close PHRF race results that culminated in many down to the wire finishes for season championship honors, and will continue. You will notice that race fees are unchanged from last year.

The 2010 Race Schedule is posted on our web site. Race Committee assignments have not been posted but will be once all skippers have registered. The course sheet, the 2010 Sailing Instructions and any updates to afore mentioned documents will be send out with a confirmation of your entry. These documents will also be available on the MPYC web site as well as at the club.

So, let’s make this year another great year of yacht racing at MPYC, and we’ll see you out on the bay. There are a lot of boats just sitting idle. Let’s get them out racing!
