Our Vision

Founded in 1953 as a non-profit, mutual benefit organization, the Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club has a rich history of promoting sailing and the common interests of yachtsmen. This includes leadership in the proper stewardship of the Monterey Bay for the recreational benefit for the community. The Monterey Peninsula Yacht Club actively engages in Corinthian sailing competitions, recreational boating and cruising, and in the development of the next generation of boaters in an atmosphere of camaraderie and friendship. We are totally involved in our community and are enthusiastic patrons of sustainable maritime ecological practices.

Activities for Members

Located on Wharf #2 overlooking the Monterey Harbor, our Clubhouse offers a vital gathering place during the week or on weekends, with an oceanfront bar and a full-service dining room. We serve Wednesday Night Buffets, Thursday Lunch, Friday Night Dinner, and Sunday Breakfast throughout the year. During the year, we host a variety of Social Events to include wine maker dinners and various celebrations. We also sponsor a wide variety of boating activities. If you are interested in sailboat racing, we have active Racing fleets for one-design, PHRF, junior sailing and remote control boats. If you enjoy Cruising, you will find an active group of cruisers that meet monthly to enjoy a pot-luck dinner, plan local cruises and host discussions with experts on a variety of subjects of interest to the boating community. The Rowing Club offers a recreational program that offers instruction and activities for rowers at all levels. MPYC has an active Junior Sailing Program for students in grades 6-12, and an Annual Summer Sailing Camp for boys and girls ages 8 to 17. Membership in our Club also provides you with Reciprocal Privileges to many other yacht clubs offering you the opportunity to feel at home where ever your travels take you.
